My life consists of my newborn daughter and my husband who is deployed to Iraq. There's nothing else really going on for me...no work, school, etc. So when any of my friends ask what's going on in my life, my answer always has to do with my husband and/or daughter. I ask about their lives and try talking about other stuff, but I feel like they're just sick of talking to me. I live about 1000 miles from most of them, so I can't just go hang out with them. Now my phone calls with them have almost become nonexistant. What do I do now?

You have to think about other things to talk about when you call them. Its kind of like one of my friends, all she wants to do is talk about her boyfriend and I get sick of it. It gets old after awhile. Its fine to tell your friends how they are doing, but don't base your conversation on your family. Tell them about your day or maybe the new things you bought or you could even talk about what your making for dinner, or you interests, maybe even the things that you want to accomplish and do. I hope things work out between you and your friends.

Your friends back home have their own lives, and you need to make contact with local people you can identify with.

Play groups are good for socializing. Also check into support groups for families of military personnel who are deployed.
Try to find the local USO chapter, VFW chapter, or Google search for the appropriate groups. Check into www.meetup.com in your area.
