I mean That Each if they dont win as WS , The Year is a Failure . Personally as a Yankee Fan, Having That Kind of Mentality is not Being Realistic i know they Have a 200 million Payroll and bunch of Superstars and etc , But They Still Have to Play 162 Pitch good and have Have a good Offense, I Thinking Making it to the Playoffs is Good enough because they Have a Chance to win , but the Fact is There Not always going to win the Ws, Not that Im Saying i dont want them to win a ws i do Want them to Win , but Im being Realistic there not going to win it every single Year if they Won the WS ever Year Baseball would not be Invented , they would Just wait it to be Late October and get the Trophy and go Celebrate

What Part of that Does George Not Understand ???

As much as the old guard wants fans to believe George is in charge....when was the last time he was seen in public? He has been in failing health for months and simply is not coherent all the time. And understand, the pronouncement he allegedly made to a newspaper reporter over the phone before the playoffs would have been a major news conference at the stadium when he was healthy.

The team was slated to be run by George's son-in-law Steve Swindal before he had a DUI charge and his wife filed for divorce earlier this year. Swindal has been kicked out of the family - personally and professionally - and there is a vacuum in the power structure.

Hank and Hal Steinbrenner have not consolidated power and may not, it seems as if the old guard around their father remains very powerful and WILL call the shots in shaping the future of the team. Be ready for a CBS-styled turmoil, as these sycophants to George only want the raw power.

George Steinbrenner is a shell of himself and his name will be used for every move from now until Hank & Hal can control of the franchise, which now looks unfortunately very remote.

I do not think that not winning or even making the World Series makes the season a failure.
I think that making it to the post season is an accomplishment to be proud of, especially this season when so many in baseball were laughing at the Yankees being 14 1/2 games back at one point and saying they would never make up enough ground to play in October at all.
But, then again I became a Yankee fan when they had not made it to the post season in over a decade, so I appreciate it every time they make it at all.

Half and Half. You cant blame a supervisor whilst a crew is unhealthy and failing - if a crew is unhealthy their unhealthy. Joe Torre has been not anything however a saint and a entire elegance act with the Yankees. Georgie must have stated it in additional of a professional manner - no longer simply blurting out - 'If he doesnt win this night hes fired.' I imply come on - on account that his time with 'ninety six he has introduced you.. Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Mariano Reveria, Andy Pettite..and many others... 1996 : Championship 1997 : ALCS 1998 : Championship 1999 : Championship 2000 : Championship 2001 : WS. But than once more..the Yankees have a two hundred,000,000 finances and havent gained a championship in over 6 years (that's plenty for Georgie and a few Yankee fanatics.)

Richard C. has answered this one right on the money.......It's been reported that George is suffering from Demetra (sorry if my spelling is wrong) and is in the early stages of Alzheimer's..........A picture of him in the NY newspaper about 10 days ago showed he was actually being supported by 2 men (faces were not seen) because he probably can't even stand on his own............He's put on a huge amount of weight and my guess is that's due to meds..........George has always been a big mouth and wants what he wants........That's it......George owns the team so I guess he feels he can say whatever he wants and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks........He's right but in doing so he never had an iota of class or cared what anyone thought...........CAT

George is one of a kind, and franchise except the yankees will except the fact that they made the playoffs. But thats what makes the yankees organization so special, if you don't win it all, you didn't accomplish anything.

Not me. Steinbrenner is a dead-to-rights idiot. When he leaves I can go back to being a Yankee fan.
