My daughter had turned 6 months old, and i finally started my period. ( I was breastfeeding so I heard that was normal) My period has thus lastest 60 days!! I dont know what to do! The doctor put me on progesterone and it has helped, but i am still bleeding heavy. The doctor asked me if i was breastfeeding 5-6 times everyday, I said no because my daughter eats three meals a day of baby food, and has one bottle everyday. She only nurses maybe 3 times a day on average. So he said that in about 5% of woman, there bodies cant take the up and down of the hormone fluctuation. So thats why he thinks this is happening, and that I need to stop breastfeeding for my health. What should i do? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Ask your doctor about the possibility of a hormone imbalance such as with the thyroid. I have had others tell me that sometimes a thyroid problem may not show up until after the baby is born.
