Depends which one you are talking about. The Highland accent is gorgeous, lovely and soft with a cute lilt. The Shetland accent is almost unintelligible even to most Scots (sorry), the Aberdeen one is quite funny to listen to. I stay outside Glasgow and I'm not a fan of the Glasgow accent, but it is a fact that most British call centres prefer to be located in central Scotland because that accent is the clearest and easiest for the whole of Britain to understand.

Love the Geordie accent, not so keen on West Country and hate the Cockney, if you get someone talking at speed you haven't a clue what they are saying.

Personally, I think the sexiest accent of all is the Irish one, north OR south.

No, not in my view
but then again what do you mean the "Scottish" accent, there are many variations , the re is not one homogeneous accent in Scotland.. just as there isn't in England, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Personally my most irritating & annoying accents are..
Cockney (and its derivatives such as mockney & estuary English, closely followed by the Brummie (and its outliers such as Dudley/ Black Country) the Liverpudlian accent and its wannabe cousins that seem to be spreading across the North Wales coast. As regards the Sots accents I don't like.. I think the lowland Scots from Dundee & Fife are pretty unpleasant (think 'Proclaimers') and I find it difficult to understand Aberdonian.

I find the Highlands accent the most attractive

Agree with "cristo_maze" above 100%. There is no such thing as a 'Scottish' accent! There's well over a dozen different accents in Scotland. There's parts of Scotland where they talk more proper / posh-sounding than England.

The most irritating accent to you depends entirely on personal taste. I think accents are what makes us individuals and groups, and help with bonding. I don't think comedians Jasper Carrot and Billy Connolly would be half as funny without theirs, and Harry Enfield made lots of people laugh with his Scouse and Mancunian accents in his sketches.

I don't consider I have an accent, because I am from Sussex, but my Welsh friends say I have a strong one. When I visit New Zealand, my Kiwi friends say simialr things.

No accent irritates me, I just find them interesting, but I do like to mimic occasionally when poking light - hearted fun. No - one seems to take offence, I'm glad to say.

Obviously you have never heard that the Inverness accent in the most pure English/British accent you can get. This is a fact. Check it up it has always been know that the Queen's English is best spoken in Inverness.........I don't live there to have nothing to gain from posting this.

I love the Scottish accent. But there are different accents within Scotland, each with its own unique sound.

I find the Scottish accent so very sexy.

it is a fact that all phone call centres would actually prefer the Scottish accent when answering ,a study was done a few years back and the majority prefered to be answered by a Scottish accent as they could understand what was being said,so the companies packed up and moved to India,Pakistan, and Bangladesh,(just to bugger you up when ask them a question)

No it is not, it is hard to understand at first, but then again that depends how broad the accent is. Same goes for everyone else's accents because everyone has a different way of pronnouncing things, it takes a lot of getting used to for other people.

Got to disagree, Scottish accents send me weak at the knees. I'm from the Northwest England.

Which particular Scottish accent do you refer to ?? As with England there are many different regional accents in Scotland so it sounds as if you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder .
