caring for any one is difficult and caring for some one with disabilities is even harder and more stressful if you felt unable to cope then you have done the right thing and hes probably better off and can then get better stress free quality time with you rather than if you hadn't and you were struggling, its no ones business but yours and if any one has any thing bad to say tell them they should think deeply about how you felt and feel and then how they would if they have any common sense they should realize you have done what is best for all - don't beat your self up about it at the end of the day these people must forget you have a life and your sanity to protect.

Easy, if they are so smart ask them to come around and do some shifts for you and stay for a couple of days to give you a break. See if that shuts their big mouth that they obviously no nothing about.

The next time someone tells you that, say "Care to help?" and then they might get the idea that it is a lot of work.

well, if you could have done better, then why didn't you volunteer to help me out???

my aunt was in the same situation, but we understood her view on things. she did it for her child out of love, to be cared for by someone who was trained and knew what they were doing. where as my mom did take care of me herself(disabled, not mentally impaired) each person has their own reasons for their choice.

Ask them if they want to help. Put them on the spot.
