hi there

i need to send some car batteries out but i know they are treated as hazardous goods, however if they are properly labelled they are apparently accepted by some couriers:

1. What is proper labelling for wet cell car/motorbike batteries

2. Which couriers accept them?

Cheers

tobykaly. fair point. but people do touch them otherwise it would be impossible for batteries to be distributed around the country let alone the world.

While yes youd be silly to want to touch them theres a reward there - more money

i know couriers do accept batteries and sometimes charge more, but my question is does anyone know which couriers?

Why are you shipping batteries? Is there some special battery you have that is not available for pick-up in every auto outlet in the world?
UPS ships batteries. I am surprised you haven't thought of them.

Acid filled batteries are subjected to the Road Traffic Regulations under ‘Carriage of Dangerous Substances and Packages’. The UN number is 2794.

All sealed lead acid batteries are unregulated by the DOT for transportation by truck, rail, ocean and air transportation because they meet the requirements of 49 CFR 173.159 (d).

Check out the link below for labelling. You'll have to phone around the couriers in your area until you find a company that will transport them for you (Try DHL and UPS first, though).
