I don't know what is, but I do know what isn't. Anyone who raves about your song and want you to invest in its recording and promotion is running a scam called the "vanity press" (book publishing is similarly riddled with dishonest agencgies).

When I was around 10, I was upset that my parents wouldn't let me see if "Tooting Horns" (to the tune of "Jingle Bells") could be the next big thing!

Try to contact singers around your area. I have accually been wanting to find some songs. I want to write, but I also want to find some songs that other people wrote.

Deal with singers not labels or studios. and make sure you've copyrighted it to protect yourself..
copyrighting is cheap something to do with post offcie, maybe to protect it just copyright the name of song! and your name!

ask around with the local bands, look people up on a search engine, sing them yourself = )
