Well, after having read The Millionaire Mind - not my typical read - but I was stuck with it for a while - yes I believe it. The book talks about a lot of traits self made millionaire have in common - e.g they don't buy new houses, the buy brick houses in an established neighborhood. One of the things they had in common was that they had a sold relationship and a supportive spouse (please note spouse - because it can go either way).

Isn't it more like there is a "good" woman? There are plenty of woman behind successful men, gold diggers etc, it doesn't mean they had anything to do with their fortune or such.

I think the saying has more to do with a loving woman keeping a man happy at what he is doing, keeping the house in order, basically leading their lives for the man. I don't totally agree with that these days, but how old is this saying? Mind you, I don;t think that is the correct saying.

No. this matches another phrase "ladyluck". even gentlemanluck could have been coined but this just came up. similarly men and women have been successful due to personal attributes not amounting to a woman or man behind. secondly, whatever any body may say,its not being sexist but being rational, that men being advanced since time immorial ,due to opportunities, have always been more behind women then the other way around. starting from daughters/wives inheriting biggest business houses to sports being coached ,professions etc ,you just look around. but this does not undermine the role of women her support and should not start a gender debate here. its plain fact , nothwithstanding its acceptance in this forum. women have been very sigificant for their own role at domestic and support roles.

reply to someone here : every "man is a son of a gun",for that matter all women have also been daughters of our gun, LOL.this corresponds to that all men have mothers....by one of the repliers.now don start debate on this truth!!

I believe anyone can be succesful when they have someone they love in their life who loves them just as much back (male or female)

It just has to be a real love. A love that supports one another and wants nothing but the best for each other, as long as it's together. Then you can overcome anything.

No.

Any claim that states "Every..." is falsified by a single counter-instance.

And there have been men who never married, were celibate, and whose mothers weren't particularly supportive, who have been successful.

Ludwig Wittgenstein comes to mind. Immanuel Kant as well.

It may be true that behind a GREAT MANY successful men..., but that's a different claim.

Some people don't grasp logic though.

Nope. I'm relatively successful and I don't have a woman behind me (or any other person for that matter). In fact, I started becoming more successful after I split from my ex-wife.

That being said, I can easily see where having a woman in my life would give me more balance and probably make me more successful - or at least more effective.

If a man needs a woman to succeed, I think it is slavery.
Behind every successful woman there is a man, I could also say.
Raise your fists, women, and let your man manage without you in the background. Get in the front of your own liberation!!!!
Enough is enough!

I do and I don't. You could say a man could be successful on his own its obviously been done before. But there is more success in having a backbone. Your support, whether it be a mother, wife or girlfriend. I'm sure the successful man is happier with that women in his life.
