Why is "S E X" so intimidating to some people?

For example, Like when someone talks about a topic/subject,
SEX, most people just laughs or tries to hide away...
Why is this?

Society tells them it is taboo of course.

anything that the majority of the population does will be evaluated and analyzed by the mass population. That goes for anything that most people do or enjoy. There is nothing wrong with it but you can be for sure someone will bring religion into. Post religion stuff elsewhere guys.

Because it is a personal thing that occurs between two individuals that should stay between the two. Ethics is all.
