The liquid tar comes to the surface and your tires will splash it onto your paint. (It comes off with "WD-40") A layer of sand absorbes the tar that oozes out until it dries in a day or two! Also it improves traction until the tar dries to a firm texture.

Because it is sticky and gets on your tires, and flies up on your car. Makes a mess. Plus it can easily be torn if tires skid on it before it sets up.
