As a guy, I find bikini panties the most comfortable, but I still like to wear a thong or g-string every now & then too.

Sure it is comfortable. Panties and briefs are almost the same. Except on some models: The ones sometimes named French cut, where the panty is narrow in front, and high cut. There, your little balls will be going out to each side! If you place everything up.
If you place carefully all those excedents down under, it might be better, but sometimes not so comfortable at the beggining. But people gets used to anything fast!
I've read in the web, at aTrans page, that u can push up every ball into the original socket where they came down originally, but might be tricky. So be careful.
Some other panties are more spread in front, and u can just place all your original hangs, up, and if the fabric is spandex, like in panties to have belly control, u will have everything nicely pressed to your belly, where it might be not so noticeably and comfortable.
Same thing with hose.
Folding everything down looks better, and you just have to get used to it.
As a clothes designer, I know that actually mens briefs are made to promote bulge, but not necessarily their organs are so bulky normally. So carefull with gettin aroused!
So try on some differente models until u find the one right for you and your tastes.
At some TG places they sell what are called Gaffes, to produce a very nice girls profile, they say, that you place under panties, corselettes or hose.
I guess it will be time consuming when going to the bathromm, but maybe worth the effort when going out with a nice dress or tight clothes. We pay for beauty, you know? So, if you want to be a nice girl, you have to learn a few tricks.
Don't try masking tape or something like that!
And maybe you'll have to shave some hair on the upper part, as girls have a different shape, triangular, and men a raising line that shows with bikini style panties.

Tangas are quite other thing, dear.
Little bit more complicated, as there is not much fabric to control or hide much!.

I don't wear panties, but I do wear pantyhose. They give great support, but gotta make sure they aren't too tight down there, if you know what I mean.
