Not like this one which sucks! Yep, it sounds like a girl in a hurry to get the grocery list over with, and so she drops the ends of her sentences, and garbles her words together.

Do watch Olivia Hussey. First thing is there is no hurry. Second thing is follow the punctuation, Shakespeare uses it to tell the actor how to phrase the line. If there is an rhyme, it is done on purpose by the character so let it happen. It is just plain talk. As you would do if you were sighing over a young man whom you could not love because your parents hated him and if you go on into the dialogue with Romeo (he sucks, too in your tape) just respond to the things that make you talk, don't try to act, just try to honestly say the lines. Break a leg, Doc

If it isn't you, should we be commenting? Well, since you've asked, here goes anyway. This pretty girl sounds as if she is hurridly rhyming off a grocery list for her mother. She speaks far too quickly to be clearly understood. Let's, out of kindness, blame the acoustics.

This is Shakespeare. Poetry. To get the cadence of the words, watch the 1968 film starring Olivia Hussey as the young, innocent Juliet. True, she had the luxury of not having to project her voice for theatre, but her performance was and is perfect.

There are clips from this film on the same page as the clip for which you've posted a link, and the soliloquy is among them (11753). Watch it and see how beautifully and emotionally Hussey speaks. Aim that way and you can't go wrong.
... Good luck!

On a scale of 1-10? I'd say 7. She needed a bit more emotion, at times she sounded like she was just reciting. Very good, though.
