I sold a garment on ebay. Then two days later i had an email saying that this garment was bought as a gift for somone else.I should state it was a wedding suit. The buyer said that after looking at the suit ,that there were sequins missing fron the bottom of the skirt.Well when i sent it it was in tip top condition. He is asking for a full refund plus the packaging costs .Can you tell me what my rights are please.Thank you for taking the time and patience to read this.

Tell him to send it back, and tell him you wont pay for the shipping back. Then wait. If he doesnt ship it back than its his problem. if he does check it out, if the items in its original condition, give him a full refund, if not give him a partial refund and tell him why. You never have to pay for him to ship it back. Hes prolly looking to scam you and will leave you alone if you tell him he'll have to pay for shipping.

If you stick to it paypal will give you a fair deal. If you contradict yourself paypal will screw you out of the $.

Difficult one because if you ask them to return it to proove it (at their cost, but you'd refund if they were correct) then they could easily remove some sequins to be an ars**ole and then you'd have to return costs...
Did you state a returns policy on your listing?
Are you a business or power seller- if so, there is a number you can call for advice.
Was it brand new? Can you proove it if so?
If no to any of the above, then I really don't know, sorry.
I hope you get it sorted though.
p.s. Just an after thought, but I have a few sequinned items and they do fall off easily (the sequins, not the clothes!!). Could you say to him that due to the delicate nature of the fabric, it should be handled with care and you cannot be certain that it was not HIM that damaged it? (if new, then wouldn't there be a little packet atatched with a few spare sequins in??)

Had a similar experience with a buyer who was adamant that what he bought wasnt in great condition(which it was I wouldnt sell anything that was defective). He got quite abusive, I just kept all correspondance neutral and polite, didnt lose my temper. He threatened to open a not as descibed dispute. Inthe end I agreed to a full refund once he had returned the item, seems ebay will side with the buyer and he had payed by paypal so he had that in his favour.Left him neg feedback then resold the immaculate trainers!Good luck!

if the buyer recieves the item not in the described state then he can request a refund. its all that sales of goods act rubbish. if i were i'd offer a refund and try and get some money from royal mail or your courier as it seems the product was damaged in transit and thus not your fault, and they should pay some damages.
or you can inform the buyer that you maybe willing to reduce the price slightly since it was damaged. as i said definitely try and claim something from courier.

been there done that
I just disputed right back at them and told ebay the item was sent in tip top condition and any faults were done by purchaser and I was not prepared to refund
nothing came of it and eventually dispute was closed

as for P&P you do not have to refund or take returns unless it was offered by seller initially

failing that tell them to p*ss off (I did that too)(and they did)

When it comes to EBAY refunds the bidder is entitled to the cost of item only not the shipping cost. Check the eBay website though.

how did they pay?
They probably wore it and then wanted a refund!
If they paid you via paypal, you are fukked!
If not, take the negative and tell them sorry about their luck
give an auction number and i will take a look at your auction.
Whatever you decide...DO NOT REFUND SHIPPING
(the item was shipped so that money has been spent...and if they want to return it to you, let them
and if they file a paypal dispute, GET the item before the refund-MINUS shipping

Hiya, As this is now a dispute - sometimes ebay will look at it from both sides and go from there - just be honest and i dont think you will have a problem, unfortunately there are a lot of chancers out there - good luck i hope it gets resolved quickly for you.

A lot of people who use ebay do try to pull a fast one in hope of getting a freebie
stick to your guns and if they are lying they will soon shut up and go away

if not report them to ebay as being dishonest

good luck
