People wearing normal clothes and caring about their bodies instead of having piercings and tattoos all over their body/nose/genitalia/eyebrows/etc. It was also in fad to have your hair color as natural as the day you were born. If a kid walked down the street with green or pink hair I'm sure a few people would gawk but I'm also sure it wouldn't have been in fad.

Skate boards. But we weren't the slacker kids of today. This was 35 years ago. We wore normal clothes, and were quite active. And we didn't tear up public property trying to do tricks. We just looked for the biggest hill that we could find, and soared down it like our hair was on fire.
Around the same time the Donny and Marie Show was huge, Sonny & Cher were coming to a close, and Danny Bonnaduce was still just nice little red headed kid on TV.

well since I'm a female. I would definitely have to say barbies were a fad when I was a little girl in the 80's and 90's. Because now little girls are into bratz and all those other weird looking dolls.

i was a kid in the 80s-90s and there were tons of different fads. i'd say the one i recall most was the grunge bit where everyone listened to pearl jam and nirvana and wore raggedy plaid flannel shirts all the time.
