No I'm talking about "Reallity", I just seem to have super sensitive hearing and it messes with my mind. Possibly it's a result of my Alchohol dependency or vitamin deficiency, I don't know

A college room putting and public speaking all have a formula. there is something expert and nonpersonal predicted out of you. while once you're at a bar you have have been given to mingle, be your self. In a school room you get to be the classmate, the pupil something you have been all your life. additionally public speaking could purely be a area of interest of yours.Even those with severe social stress experience fullyyt comfortable while they're doing their "factor" including public speaking, breaking dancing...performing and so on. One final factor, something that should assist you recover from it relatively is to think of of it relatively is to make certain mingling as formulaic to boot. look on the e book "The artwork of Small talk" and do your very own observations approximately how people mingle.

Interesting, you don't mind loud music at home and noise in public bothers you.

I have to agree with some of the answers above, you may suffer from either a mental or hearing dysfunction. I can't imagine that just "focusing" on what is in front of you is going to help. It sounds deeper than that. You really should seek a professional, not a pill pusher, to diagnose you properly. With treatment you may be able to overcome this affliction. Best of luck dear! Nana

That's quite like me I was sitting on the bus and all the noise was really irritating me... the more i think about it the louder and more annoying it gets....

If you feel it's as bad as you do go to the doctor.... is it connected to any other symptoms ?

The reason I ask about symptoms is because I suffer from panic attacks which can make all the noise and busy areas more irritating/louder.....

I know of what you speak. I refer to it as too much stimuli. I curtail the number of hours I am out or I'd go nuts. I then come home to my quiet, peaceful room.

I find people talk very loudly nowadays. And all the additional noises are irritants.

Some people are just more sensitive to things like that. I myself suffer from Tinitus, which means I can't go anywhere really noisy anymore.
Try and avoid these situations, move somewhere quiet :)

Try using your voice. when you hear the waitstaff changing the glasses or cups.Speak up . Say something that your friends might respond to. listen to what other people are saying and put your concentration in that direction. Raise your hand and call the waiter or waitress over and order another round and let them place their orders It's hard for you and easy for me. I understand. You have to block out all that background noise. In short...quit eavesdropping.

just a thought

but when was the last time you had a hearing test?

I get a similar problem, and it's caused by my mild hearing loss not by anxiety
