I haven't but I know that it shouldn't matter what the school thinks. As long as you meet the requirements for residency you should have no problem. In MA it's 1 year. So if you lived on campus or in the state your freshman year plus one summer (that's 12 months) then you are a resident so your sophmore year you can get state grants (if you qualify for the fin aid) as a state resident. I don't know for Cali though.
