I don't think people are afraid to say it as much as they are too oblivious to realize it.

I'm not afraid to say it, I usually always say what's on my mind, it just hasn't always been to my advantage and when I have said it in the past, the person I said it to used it as a stick to hit me round the head with, so now I'm very very hesitant about those words.
However, I tell my children every single day that I love them, because my parents never said it to me, and I tell my kitty cats as well, and I would like to tell Michael Stipe if I could ...

Because some people use that line so often it loses it's meaning. for example teenagers say that so they can get lucky with the girls. Or some people might be just afraid because they don't want to be the first to say it ........ or they are not really sure.

some people are afraid to say I love you because they aren't for sure if the one they are saying it to feels the same way. If you say it to someone who doesn't feel that way you might scare them off.

I don't know. In relationships people are probably afraid to say it because they don't lnow if the other person feels the same way, or if they do that they'll scare that person away, things like that.

I dont know why people are afraid to say "i love you". Maybe cause with those ur sorta bonded with the person u said them to. I would say it to my boyfriend if he was here.....

Because that it requires or implies commitment. Popel are also afraid to put their feelings out there only to have them not returned.
