My computer was full of viruses (thanks Charter internet) and having lots of issues with connecting to the internet, running utilities, etc. Eventually, it had trouble booting up. I took it in and was diagnosed with a bad motherboard and had the documents ghosted to a disk. Now, I got it to boot up long enough to restore the system and download the drivers for the internet modem, but still having issues with the booting. The fan will run, like it's trying to boot up, but the blue light in the button won't come on. I've tried it off/on for over a day and it just came on. Same thing has happened before, it finally boots up just when I've given up. What else can I fix? I really can't afford a new computer right now and I have 2 months left until I get my degree. I really need my computer. Could it be something simple, or is it really the motherboard?

Basically, your computer could of took some 'damage' from internal viruses - these can mess up your computer in many ways. ( Hence, why'd I suggest to ensure your anti- virus software is the most up-to-date and most reliable by far - having a firewall wouldn't hurt either). However, in your problem, it seems that their could be a connection problem through your main drive wires. I would suggest to get it looked at, with a technician - explaining the situation. Otherwise, if the computer won't boot completely; it won't boot at all. If it does come round to boot up (including windows and desktop) I would do a full scan and quarantine of your files and hard drives. Including the updating of your software programs against viruses. So hopefully if you do this, it should be able to work. Otherwise, again going to the technician would most likely help you quickly and efficently; without costing too much. Hope this helps.

Make sure the hardrive date cable is not loosed on both end hardrive and also on the main board.
