yes but they all flake off, if you are just trying to protect & cover a small amount of rust, try using grate polish u can get it from good hardware shops its what they used on the old black ranges- fire's, it puts a nice blue-black sheen on chrome if you polish it of or leave on for a black finish it does rub of but will last a week or so do my down pipes with it once a mnth,
used the paints over the years they take longer to do & dont last & the more you do it the worse it gets chips n scratches.

Yes but the chrome really needs to be removed first to give a good solid base for the exhaust paint to firmly adhere to

Blasting is the best way to remove the chrome see a local sandblaster

Yes, but it'll look awful, and even paints designed for the temperature will almost certainly flake off in no time because if your chrome's gone, your pipes will already be too corroded to ever get a decent base to paint on to.

The paint you'd use would be expensve too if it claims it can cope with the temperatures of the header pipes

I doubt it will work very well. First you would need to remove all the current finish, I suggest a power sander. Metal paint won't work, the exhaust gets way to hot. You need a high temperature paint rated at >300deg.

You can try metal paint, but the results will be very poor.

first you need to sandblast all that chrome off, then use a high temp paint. I did the exhaust on a couple of my bikes over the years that way. You need to touch it up once in a while, but other than that, it works fine.

I am sure you can I just don't know how. I have a ninja 250 which has black on the exhaust pipes. Or it maybe that there was no chrome on it, it was naked metal and it was painted black.

There are products on the market, but hey will need a good sound grease and rust free base. Nothing you use will replace the look of the original chrome finish. Shouldyou want to replace this you will have to go to a plating shop.

If the paint is heat resistant i dont see why you cant! use a correct primer first so that the paint will take to the chrome. any help to you?

It would be cheaper to get a new one because if you don't do the preparations / remove chrome / a proper primer / heat proofe paint, the paint will just boil and blister etc, etc and then rust up. Forget it?!?!?!?.
