I have no idea. 1. Because i've never read the US Editions and would like to, as i heard there is a little more in them.
But i do think the English ones are better by appearence. See, The UK editions are original, the font on the cover in just normal Font. But on the US ones, the font is from the film. NOT The original. And also, i think the UK editions are more intelligent as the writing is small and there are no pictures, they let your imagination run a little more wild. People who disagree with me, please debate, i really would like to know which one you think is better. As, as you know, i have never read the US Editions, and would like to.

I totally agree with you 100%, even though the U.S versions are bigger they don't have the orriganality of the U.K versions.
I also protest that they change things like "jumper" to "sweater" just to make it American. Harry Potter is based in Scottland and to do that is like taking away it's nationality.

The font on the cover was there before the movies even came out. Neither is the 'original' alone, they both are. They both came out at the same time. The Sorcerers/philosophers Stone came out long before movies were in process. Personally I think the US dust covers are nicer. It is normal for the covers and readings of books to be a bit different in different countries not just with the Potter books. Also as someone above mentioned there are two UK versions (kids and adults) so which one do you consider the original?
There are no pictures in the US versions except a small pencil drawing at the start of each chapter. It surely does not take away from the imagination of the reader. I have read two of the UK editions belonging to a friend and found few differences....just some words that we don't use as regular as you do.

Well...the book font in the U.S. can't be from the movies....the books were published BEFORE the movies were made. So the font from the MOVIES is from the books. Also...other than a small picture at the top of a chapter page...there aren't any pictures in the U.S. books either.

And how can you call the UK editions the Original? There are two different UK versions themselves. The children's editions and the Adult editions...BOTH have different covers etc.

And last time I checked....type size (meaning how big or small the words are) have nothing to do with intelligence. I mean, they make Hemingway in Large Type books so that people with vision problems can read it.

From what I have heard (because I haven't read the UK editions) the movies follow the U.S. books more than the UK books...so I guess that would be the difference. I would like to read the UK books to see for myself BUT you can't have them shipped to the US since two different publishers put out the books.

I own UK edition of books 1, 3, 4 and US editions of the other 4.

I don't see much difference. There are some changes made here and there, but it doesn't make a difference to the reasing experience.

The differences are minor. The US editions have been edited to replace Britishisms that American kids might not understand, and have a few other odd corrections or changes. For the most part it's just a word or two here and there. Here's some comparisons:

No, I stick by the original. It's also becuase of the feeling, you know? The UK is the real "home" of Harry Potter. Reading it from a diffirent country, but in the same language and eddited feels like reading a fake.
But why don't you buy both and compare?

Font length and form and there are illustrations before each and every financial disaster interior the yank version. quite a few the fairly textual content fabric is diverse too, by way of fact the way individuals talk is diverse than the way people talk interior the united kingdom and there may be confusion with the words and wording.

I've never read the UK edition before, but I'd love to. I agree that the US versions kind of dumb it down as I think the focus is more on younger children than teens and adults.

I like the format of the UK ones better. No pictures, original dialog. I'd really like to get my hands on one.

I didn't know there was that significant of differences except for the pictures, and some of the British lingo being American.

...They are the exact same things except for the covers. They are both the same. Neither is better than the other. o.O
