To the NEAREST HUNDREDTH, solve 4 (5 - x) = 8 (x - 10).

i got 8.3 as my answer. but the teacher says i got it wrong.......... so plz tell me HOW u got ure answer.

20-4x=8x-80
100=12x
100/12=x
x=8.33333333
rounded to the nearest hundreth it is
x=8.33

round it to the nearest hundreth will make the answer 8. if it was 8.51 the answer would have been 9 coz anything number after decimal above 50 will be the next number but .33 is smaller then 50 so it will be 8

100 = 12x
100/12 = x
8.33333 = x

The directions said to give the answer to the nearest hundredth, and you gave yours only to the nearest tenth. The correct answer to the question as it is worded is 8.33. (It is possible that your calculator is set to only show one decimal place. If so, you should change that.)

I also got 8.3 but theyr're asking for the nearest hundreth so you need an extra decimal

After doing distributive property and stuff, you should have 8.3333333333333...

Here's what you GOT WRONG:
Hundredth is the SECOND digit (you're looking at the FIRST) to the right of the decimal point, so really it's 8.33, not 8.3.
