She seemed to garner a lot of sympathy because of her public breakdown, but somehow I feel a bit disappointed over the whole issue.

Will you continue to watch her show?

You can't lose something you never had. I didn't watch her show before, I probably won't now. She is a professional and as such is familiar with contracts. She knowingly violated the one she had with the dog facility and now because of her public display, the dog facility is getting damaged further.

I didn't see her breakdown, although I have read she cried over the dog being taken away from the new home she found for it when it didn't work out for her.

It was irresponsible of her to give the dog to new owners in violation of a contract agreement. It was her responsibility to know what the contract said and abide by her agreement.

With that being said, I also have to say that she made a mistake. Which one of us hasn't? Ours just usually don't get so widely publicized, thankfully so.

If my understanding of all the circumstances is correct, then I also have to say the agency removing the little dog from it's new home also made a mistake. They turned right around and placed the little dog in another new home. Why didn't they remove the dog until they could properly do what needed to be done for the little dog to be placed back with the new owners already attached to it? What would have been wrong with that? In my opinion, not making any effort to do this is irresponsible on their part

It appears that flexing their muscles was more important to them. But then again, which one the rest of us hasn't made a mistake?

We all make mistakes. And I think both sides of this battle erred. Both sides have proved they are human. It's not as if they've committed some big crime that would warrant a big loss of respect.

I'm not a die hard Ellen fan that feels as if I have to tune in every day. Occasionally I do catch her show and will not alter that practice one way or the other over the little dog fiasco.

Now, if more and more of these type scenarios keep popping up and a pattern develops, I might feel differently. But for now I don't view her in any different light than I did before it happened.

I can understand her being upset over the situation in general. But also she did break the rules. If you adopt a pet from a shelter they make it very clear that if you are unable to care for a pet, you must bring the pet back to the shelter. You can not take it upon yourself to sell or give the pet away, if you do then don't make a public statement about it. Your only going to hurt yourself and the family you "gave" the pet to. I feel bad for the little girl that got attached to Iggy, she should have never been put in this situation.
I don't feel any different about Ellen. She is still a good person, she realized that what she did was wrong. I think the emabarrasment and humility of the situation really bothered her more than the pet being taken away.

What I want to know is, why Brit's kids were taken away and the dogs got to stay? Things that make you go hmmmm?

Another Ellen/Iggy question? Man these have really been popping up a lot the past few days.

I never really liked or disliked Ellen. As I once said before, she broke a contract, she had no right to give the dog away to someone else, she should have read all the documentation that came with the little guy. And her 'public breakdown' has caused threats towards the owners of Mutts and Moms. So I'd wager to say she's garnered quite a bit of support, albeit not in a good way.

I watch her show on occasion when I'm flipping channels, but not a huge fan or anything.

Personally I think if the rescue agency gave her the dog then it's HER dog and she has a right to do whatever she wanted with it. She wasn't going to give it to a bad home. I think the rescue agency girls were pretty shitty to show up at the people's house and take it away from the girls, especially since they were there. Then those pieces of crap rushed into finding the dog a new home so it was out of their hands and they wouldn't have to worry about it anymore. They knew if they held the dog for very long, that family & Ellen would've fought harder to get it back. The rescue agency is full of BS with their rules about no family gets a dog with children under 14....c'mon, 14 is too old to set the limit there. Kids wants dogs...if you have to set an age limit, 10 is more realistic.

It was a Stunt to boost her ratings slump.

She inked a contract, and she broke the terms of the contract.
Had she had been Smart, she would have taken her friend and the child to the shelter with her and explained the cats are beating the snot out of the dog and these kind people will be a better place for the doggy.. Then all would have been fine.

If this does not cause folks to read the fine print before inking any type of contract, nothing will.

Ellen has been removed from my Market area.
She has zero of my sympathy for her stupidity.

Personally, I think she's gone a little over the edge. Don't get me wrong, I have always been a fan, but she's kind of overreacting to the whole situation. I was stunned when she canceled the taping of her show for a few days because of her "emotional" situation. I mean, c'mon. It's not like her momma died or anything--it's a flippin' dog! And the dog's not dead either, so I just think she must have some deep seated emotional problems that have nothing to do with the dog that caused her to react this way. She needs some therapy.

Ellen Degeneres is just a totally mixed up person who needs a PR specialist to handle her interpersonal encounters with the media, and a lawer to explain the contents of a contract and what entering into one means.

I still remember the Anne Heche love affair scandal and how that was handled, so all this brouhaha over a dog is pointless and pathetic. She's got intestinal fortitude to parade her sexual orientation before the rest of the world, but cries over a contract violation involving a dog adoption?

I don't watch her show, by the way. Her last name reminds me too much of the word degenerate.

This is a dumb question. However, I think Ellen was being a bit dramatic but the ppl who took the dog from a safe and happy home sound like disgusting and heartless ppl. Kids and dogs are meant to be together so I feel the dog was done a great disservice and will not be as happy as it could have been in the house Ellen found for it. I don't think this will affect her ratings either way a month from now when everyone forgets anything ever happened..

I think it may have been a mistake for her to make the statement on her show. A news conference would have been a better venue- or an interview. But, what's done is done. There was some backlash because of the threats made against the shelter she got the dog from. She could not have known that was going to happen, and she made a statement asking her fans to please not contact the shelter or make any threats. I still like her just as much, and yes, I would continue watching her show if it came on when I was not at work.

From what I heard on the story, the shelter should've just let the other family keep the dog since it was well cared for, and had a loving home. There was no point to taking it back since Ellen had paid for it.
I'm really kind of stunned all this drama is getting raised on national television over a dog in the first place.
