Put the 2 cores of the flex, 1 each, into the two outermost terminals in the rose. brown to red/brown and blue to black/blue, the middle terminal block SHOULD only have 3 (poss. 4) reds/browns and is ALWAYS live, do NOT connect to this. Connect your lampholder to the other end of the flex.

Use a tester to see which, if any, wires are hot. Then turn on the light switch and try again. That will tell you one of the wires you need to use.
You'll also need a neutral wire. The third wire is probably a ground.
In new wiring in the US, there is typically a white wire, a black wire and a green wire. The green will be a ground, and the black and white are the power lines. With a ceiling light, it really doesn't matter if it's hooked up in reverse, but the light will normally have a whitemetal and a yellowmetal screw for the power, and to comply with standards, you connect the white to the whittemetal, and the black to the yellowmetal.

There should be 3 1.5mm twin and earth cables (Which has an outer sheeth around 2 sheethed cables with a bare cooper wire running central) at the ceiling rose they are feed in, feed out and switch.
Feed in and feed out is
Red/Brown = Live = and they go in the Central "loop in" terminals
Black/Blue = Neutral = Right hand terminals
Bare copper(Should be in green/green and yellow sleeving) = Earth = "Earth" Terminal
Switch Contains:
Red/Brown = Permanant Live = "loop in" Central Terminals
Black/Blue = Switch Live = Left hand terminals
Bare Cooper (In green/green and yellow sleeving again) = Earth ="Earth" terminals
On the lamp holder you will have:
Brown = Live and that goes in the left hand terminal around the loop
Blue = Neutral and that goes in the right hand terminal around the loop
Basically you need a Continuity meter to tell which cable goes to the switch or a lot of patiance

well , it wont matter , how many i nthe ceiling , you just need to find out ,what is the hot one,
that the-one that give you power, to your light
the other two, are the switch, one running to the switch, one running back to it , and the other one ,get conexted to the light fitting
any combo works, as you dont need an earth on the light fitting
look for black and brown wire, or black /red. the red will be your hot one ,
if you really unsure ,try using a tester , or hire a pro

In the U.S. here's how it goes:
Black is the positive wire
White is the negative wire
Green is the ground wire
match the colors to one another, and everything should work fine.....
if this is a fairly new constructed building, it may have more than one ground, whereby one wire, usually green actually grounds to the appliance or light housing itself, and the other is grounded at the power source....breaker box, fuse box, etc...
