I have seen people taking tests the next day to see if they conceived. How does that work? I dont' want to waste money but I want to know too. So when is the soonest after having sex that I could test and get an accurate reading?

I did two weeks and it was positive. The next day is too soon. You have to wait until the pregnancy hormone has time to be detected in your body. I think any time before 2 weeks would be a waste of your money, as if it was negative you couldn't be sure and would have to test again later.

Conception rarely takes place right during sex. Sperm can live inside the womam for up to 5 days....so conception might not even happen until days after sex. Also the fertilized egg must travel and get implanted and start building hormones before it can be detected.
SOme early pregnancy tests can detect up to 5 days before a missed period. But each day away fromthe start of your period the percentage of accuracy goes down..The best time to test is when you have missed your period.

The day you're late for your period is the soonest you can test and get the most accurate reading. There is nothing on the market, nor available to doctors that can test the day after having sex. Thats insane.

Not the next day
For one, sperm could live in the body for 48 hours
You could have sex Friday night, and have the sprem met the egg on Sunday morning
So next day is dumb
I would wait until I miss my period
Or, a week before your period is due
The day after is wrong

No, it's way too ealry to test then! That's giving your body NO time to produce hCG. You CAN test up to 5 days before a misse dperiod, but it's not a guarantee you'll get a positive even if you ARE pregnant.

You should take pregnancy tests all the way to three days after sex.
