There is currently a Bill before Parliament to create offences in relation to the publication of false or misleading statements
by elected representatives. I wonder how far it will get!

Hey, come on, these are experts, mere mortals from the real world do not stand a chance of breaking through with anything that could possibly have any lasting impression. when have you heard a politician answer with a simple yes, or no. The real shock to politicians would be to hear another politician give an answer that required them to answer yes or no.

While it would be nice to have an electrical device attached to their genitalia, that activated whenever they committed a foul, the fact is that the public expects, tolerates, and condones it. Every time we vote for a George Bush or Richard Nixon (just two obvious examples, just a pol. party coincidence) we reinforce the behavior. The best route would be to simply stop reinforcing immoral behavior via reelection.

We could give them the sack but then Westminster would be empty most of the time. I agree with taking away their expenses and seeing them doing community service would be very entertaining, especially if someone could start a new reality TV show with clips of the latest batch doing their bit.

Unfortunately if we stopped voting for them there would be no one left in parliament.very few anyway. The cut in pay or community service is best. Let them clean up hospitals for a day. That would also let them see the problems at first hand. Sadly the cleverest liars would get away with it.

Even in short intervals, there is not enough electric power available for all the lies politicians tell. It would be a drain to energy conservation.
