a friend and i were playing 5card stud with the cards shuffled by an electric device. afte the 8th hand he said, i cant understand why i get such bad hands. the cards are delt at radom and randomness know know pattern or concept of good or bad hands, so it should be just as easily to be randomly delt a good hand as a bad one. Is he right?

If you shuffle 5 times, the cards will be for all practical purposes random. To calculate the probability of losing streaks or winning streaks, please refer to:

If the cards are not randomly shuffled, there isn't a mathematician around (that I know of) that can help you.
