Legally no they can't do anything but realize this there are all kinds of ways to do things they could just wait for you to do anything wrong at that point and evict or even make up complaints about you to evict you
Can't you be a silent witness?

Don't think of it as "supporting someone", think of it as telling the truth. The rest is up to the court.

They should realize you are obligated to answer a subpoena, and obligated to tell the truth on the stand. Not many professionals would not hold you responsible for a problem they created.

Treating you unfairly will open them up to yet another lawsuit from you, so I'm not sure I would be too worried about it.

Ask the person filing the suit to subpoena you. This forces you to testify. While retaliation is illegal, it sometimes happens. If you follow the lease/rental agreements, you should be fine.

Your lease will protect you.
