I am an honors student in high school, I now have a GPA of 3.5, I participate in extracurricular activities, and I have a grandfather who attended Harvard and got his business degree there and his brother went to Harvard Medical School. My grandfather served on the Harvard admissions board while there, has many Harvard friends still around, and my grandfather has donated a large amount of money to Harvard under his name and continues to this day to donate money. He says he thinks he can help me get in, but still, I am nervous about it. I am not the valdictorian at my high school, where one kid in my class gets straight A+ in every class, but I do well.

I'm pretty sure that all of the Ivy league schools have legacy admission policies -- otherwise how would Bush and Kerry [who clearly weren't great scholars] ever have gotten in?
