The law that says we have to is all of Title 26 of the US Code -- including 26 USC 7203, which makes it a crime to refuse to file or refuse to pay income tax.
And the point of our civil liberties being trampled is that the govt is showing its teeth and abusing its power -- which is not the best time (but probably the most appropriate) to stand up against it.

It's a trend gaining momentum and yes you can find loopholes in the Constitution, but you will never come out ahead at this point in the "fight". Your energies would be better spent working for a flat tax or better yet a tax on sales is the most fair of fair. Why? The more luxury you buy the more tax you pay! The bigger the mansion, the more the tax. The more outrageous the car, the more the tax. Not paying taxes will only lead to hassles or as we have seen in the paper recently isolation where families hold up in their own homes. Can you outlast the wonks in a waiting game? I couldn't!

When the government is in a phase where it is *willing* stomp all over your civil rights seems exactly the wrong time to start rebelling over the one thing that the government really *does* care about.
That would be like, OK, now that they've instituted the death penalty, this would be a good time to go out and kill someone during a bank robbery.
As another poster said above, please let us know how that works out for you.

What civil liberties have you lost?
You mean like Democrats who wrote a letter to smear one talk show host?
How they want to regulate talk radio but not the other forms of media?
More likely you just focus in on charges made by the far left.
You can go ahead and not file your tax return and see what happens.

Supreme Court has upheld Income taxes multiple times. they won't even heard appeals on the subject now unless the Appealate Court has erred.
Which of your civil liberties has been trampled on? Obviously not free speech, eh?

Sorry. Constitution gives the government authority to levy and collect. Does not say we get a money back guarantee if we don't like the current policy.

If everyone did that they would soon have to listen, they can't take us all to Court.
