No they don't smell of garlic, and it is onions they wear round their necks when riding their bikes wearing the beret and the striped woolly! So they may smell of onions if they're not using a good handwashing liquid on the woolly. The women smell divine. It is Les Neriedes Patchouli Antique perfume which you can't buy over here. The women in France have got IT, not BO!!

YES
News that the French are among the smelliest people in Europe grabbed the headlines in Britain on Saturday, allowing national papers to indulge in one of their favourite pastimes -- gentle xenophobia. The entire press seized on an official government study reported in France's Le Figaro which related how ``more than one in two French people does not respect even the elementary rules of personal cleanliness''.
The statistics showed that 53 per cent of French people fail to take a daily bath or shower, one in six men wears the same underwear for three days or longer and only 50 per cent use deodorant.

To the British press such figures were delight, confirming a long-held prejudice that, despite its renowned perfume houses, France is a country which smells strongly of the unwashed throng, garlic, and a soupcon of wine. ``It's true: the French really are the smelliest in Europe,'' wrote The Times. ``C'est officiel: the French are smellier than we are,'' The Guardian reported.

Similarly in The Independent:``French do not wash -- official.'' The Express: ``Don't sniff, the French really do shun the shower,'' and The Daily Mail: ``France, the land where the soap is everlasting.''

I don't know. Never been there. Good luck charms are just what they are. Charms. Garlic isn't so bad if you cook it properly. If you are offended by the garlic..put a string through a jalapeno and wear it around your neck. Stick it under their nose if you feel threatened.

Garlic is a very healthy substance. It should be used abundantly in food. If you don't like garlic breath, you can get pills that have the smell removed.

May I point out that the French are rated #1 for their universal health coverage. The "Sicko" American health system is rated #37.

Vive la Difference.

Of course they do because that is all they eat. Also they all wear stripy jumpers, wear berets and ride around on bicycles. Have you never been to France??
