I often find myself handing out money to family and friends, but when I come to asking for it back it's a different story. I find it hard to say no as they always give me a story and i just can't find it in my heart to refuse them.

Have you ever had this sort of trouble? today my aunt asked me for £400 which I gave to her, the annoying thing was it was like she was waiting for me as I had just got back from my holiday and 5 minutes later the doorbell went. I said when can I expect it back she said "oh don't worry you'll get it back soon love"... will wait and see!!

Thanks for your answers!!

There are two types of people....users and the people they use.......I used to be just like you, and the users would hunt me down...because they knew I was a giver......well I suddenly got very poor....anytime someone would ask for a loan....I would tell them....oh I would love to give that to you, but I had a terribe finacial problem......and I find myself short.......and I have been short to them for years now, and they no longer ask........so talk poor.....no matter how much is in the bank.......you are short..........stick to your story................it works

You just said the word family and friends they are the money blood suckers of the community.LOL YOu always see family or friends or old boyfriends or girlfriedns on court talking about but it was a gift. Gift my behind you know that wasn't to dang gift. You said you was gon pay it back. So as you can see evidence shows they use people they think they can get over on or be like come on cousin you know ima pay you back. That is some mess if I ever heard of it. LOL

OH NO, lesson number one, NEVER lend out money. Fastest way to lose friends too.

The worst thing is that YOU end up feeling suckered and it's always on YOUR mind. It can ruin your faith in people so best that people learn to get by on their own. They have you pegged as a "nice guy" and take advantage of your generosity. If you want to give it as a gift then do that. But don't lend it expecting to get it back.

There are good people you can count on, but still $20 is one thing, big cash is another. I say avoid it, and at least you will still keep a friendship and/or stay on good terms with people.

Many people who can't manage money are this way. They intend to pay it back after they have paid for the new car, the new furniture, and all the outstanding bills that they have that are delinquent . They're just very inconsiderate and their friends need to learn how to say NO. I have some relatives that owe me from over 20 years ago.

Some people who borrow money, have the intention of paying it back. Sometimes things happen and they really can't. You shouldn't take this out on EVERYONE that asks to borrow money.

But you shouldn't lend money to people that have not repaid you, or has other means of obtaining money, like a job or something like that.

I know the feeling if we called in all the money people owe us we would be able to have a good holiday.
Some people just take advantage

You're a good person, but maybe you need to stop handing out. I believe most people have good intentions when they borrow, but unless you put your foot down and write up a payback agreement, they may consider you a pushover when it's time to repay. Something always comes up.

Good luck!

You're nice for lending them money for their needs even when you suspect that they might not pay you back, but maybe it's time that you not give out more money until they pay you back. The least they can do is give back the money you borrowed them.
