They have been desalinating seawater for years. Some naysayers might point out the cost. Well, someone said awhile ago that the cost of healthcare for premature babies is skyrocketing. We have to pay it! What do we want, the human race to die out? Same with this! Do we want people to die of thirst? We have to pay the cost of desalination. The technology is here!

We already have the technology. All they have to do is start using it.

We have been in a drought within the Great Basin of the West for several years. The level at Lake Mead, the primary water source for Southern Nevada, has dropped drastically during a period of high growth in the area. Snow pack on the western face of the Rockies which produces most of the water in the Colorado River system is down drastically. All this long before the crisis in Georgia, with not one word about it in the "mainstream media". They don't hit the "everybody panic" switch unless it happens in California or the eastern seaboard.
