For my birthday, my mom invited my friend(or exfriend?) to lunch with us. I haven't seen her in a year. My mom invited her without asking me plus I'm 17 so I should be calling on my own. Is what my mom did right? Her excuse is that "it would be nice." I stopped talking to my friend because she never asked me to hang out(even her birthdays this year and last year) but my mom says it's because "she was busy"....yeah pshh for a year? Riiiight. What should I do? I don't really want to become friends with her anymore even though we've been friends since I was 3. Thoughts about this? Should I see her or not? I don't know...

You are right, you are old enough to decide what you want and how you want it. If you don't wanna be around this girl, then you don't have to be. If your mom knows the situation, then she shouldn't push the 2 of you to become friends again. You made a choice and you were sticking to it. Maybe your mom thought it would be nice to reconcile, but that should be up to you not your mom. Tell your mom how you feel and cancel lunch with that girl. Tell your mom that you only want it to be you and your mom and maybe someone else of your choice if that is what you want. I'd never make my daughter do something she didn't wanna do. Good Luck!

There are bad feelings between you and the former friend. Ask your mother to nicely tell the girl that plans have changed and perhaps you can have lunch later...when you're not so busy!
Don't let her ruin a nice day with your mom.
