As a Christian, I certainly hope the "doom and gloom" or "fire and brimstone" version is dying out. That's not what Jesus' message of good news was, and that attitude pushes more away that it will ever bring in.

Have you ever been to church? What is so doom and gloom about Christianity? I mean, we are all sinners, but Jesus sacrificed himself so that we can be with Him forever in paradise. Im pretty sure neither Jesus nor paradise is gloomy.
Are we dying out? I dont think so. Just because there are loud people who want to take morals out of everything, doesnt mean some of us still have our head on straight. We are still the largest religion.

Sorry, but I think the Christians are going to have more influence on this election than before. Also, the make up the majority in this country, so they would naturally make up the majority of votes. Don't underestimate their (should I say our) power! And what in the world makes you think it's all doom n gloom??? Christianity is the religion of HOPE!

I hope so....truly beleiving and living the teachings of Christ and being a "Christian" unfortunately aren't one in the same...fundamentalism in any form is the greatest threat to open discourse and a free society as we know it...we've had 7+ years of fundamental christian politics driving our country which has been a disaster for working people everywhere not to mention the destruction of our positive standing around the world. The greatest complaint we hear about "Americans" is our arrogance, when you have people who think they have a mainline to God arrogance is the result. My hats off though to the republican spinmmeisters who have convinced people that they are acting in everybody's best interest when in fact their policies serve to benefit the rich. Perfect example: the "family values" republicans who can't find a way to help insure desperate American children but it's O.K to spend billions on killing innocent children in Iraq. I can't wait until we get back to a society that values science and reason over dogma.

Christianity is not dying out -- and it is not even losing it's political voice -- there is just no current hyper-religious candidate because religious issues are not going to make or break the 2008 election -- and trying to push that agenda now is not going to work. It's all just strategy.

Christianity is not doom and gloom. It presents the message of salvation of sins through Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross. If you choose not to accept his sacrifice, when you die, you will have to pay for your transgressions. God makes salvation available to anyone who believes but if you don't accept His sacrifice, you will have to pay for your sins. Doom and gloom it is not.

No.
Liberalism is, in fact, the doom and gloom religion. We are all dying from:
-global warming
-global cooling
-making terrorists even more upset with us
-less salt in the oceans (?? yes i'm serious)
-being uninsured
-not being regulated enough
-rural citizens with rifles
-big oil
-pharmaceutical companies
-asteroids
-social security checks only being INCREASED 2.5%
-not redefining poverty at $82000.00 a year
-not redefining a child at 25 yrs. old
all of these blind beliefs have little or no credence.
the ones that do can't prove the apocalyptic consequences claimed
drink the kool aid
bottoms up

All religions are only superstitious stupidity . Christianity is loosing ground , as people wise up to the fact that supernaturals do not exist . Islam is holding its ground because they're fifteen hundred years behind the times. In another thousand years , they'll have the mental capacity of the rest of the world now , but everybody else will be that much farther ahead .

i think christianity is radicallising if anything. It\ seems to be dying out in the respect that numbers are falling, but it will always be around as it goes through family generations and it seems that those left are pretty hardcore. This is just my opinion, hope it offends no one.
