Is this reactio possible?
I + IO3 -----> I3
Iodide + Iodide trioxide ----> iodide (III)

Also, how wold i balance it?

Iodide is I- and iodate is IO3-
There are a lot of reactions. I thing that you want this :
Iodine is converted in a two stage reaction to iodide and iodate in basic solution :
I2 + 2 OH- >> I- + IO- + H2O
3IO- >> 2I- + IO3-

there are 2 I s on the left but 3 on the right... so. to balance it..
put a 2 in front of IO3 and add 3 (O2) to the right side of the equation

Under certain redox conditions the route is possible.

IO3- + 5I- + 6H+ = 3I2 + 3H2O
Iodate + Iodide +Acid = Iodine + Water

Yes!!! the system works in acid solution.
This chemical reaction is mainly used in volumetric analysis.

Firstly, there is no such chemical as iodine trioxide. The oxide of iodine would be I2O, di-iodine monoxide

Secondly, there were oxygen atoms on the left side of the equation. However, there are no oxygen atoms on the right side of the equation.

Thirdly, i don't think that Iodine (lll), I3 exists. Iodine as an element forms diatomic molocules and the proper form of elemental iodine is I2.

Fourthly, in order to balance a chemical equation, you need to make sure that the number of atoms of each element on the left side is the same as the number of atoms of each element on the right side.
