Assuming my plot of land is a perfect square, I envision a pyramid shape down to the core, which would be a single point (the tip of the pyramid). Do I own this entire area?

I'm not concerned with minerals/mining, it's just a general (albeit goofy) question. What if I wanted to dig a hole straight down- how far could I dig?

THE SURFACE AREA OF A HOUSE OR OTHER EDIFICE IS OFTEN ALL YOU PURCHASE AND ANY MINERALS AND OFTEN THE AREA EXTENDING ABOVE THE HOUSE BELONG TO SOMEONE ELSE. ASK THE PEOPLE IN KENTUCKY AND TENNESSEE WHOSE HOMES WERE DESTROYED SO SOMEONE COULD MINE THE COAL BENEATH THEM.

You own only the building and title to the land- not the minerals on or below the surface.

Use the land for whatever purposes except mining- unless you get a mining right from the authorities- then again you would need to pay relevant royalties and taxes.

When you purchased your home you would have received a "title insurance policy". Look in the legal description or on Schedule B. Sometimes there will be a clause that reads,,, "excepting therefrom all mineral, oil and gas rights thereon. hope that helps

You own on the area you have, all the way down to the inner core all the way up to the area in space your house is in.

So all the way down in the exact area your house rest all the way up.
