Yes, almost certainly. Consciousness - self awareness - being sentient - is discovered. An Intelligent being(or rather a sentient life form) would not come through evolution, so to speak, but would rather discover itself, in a manner of speaking. Business is the ultimate expression of the "conscious" being. There are no E.T.'s visiting earth. What would be the profit in it.? Extra Terrestrial beings most likely communicate by manipulating the G-Unit(the gravity unit). Radio and light signals are insufficient for such inter-stellar communications. One theory is that earth was coincidentally seeded with life from Mars. There is much to support the theory of life being common-place, even pervasive, in the universe, one, though somewhat philosophical, is looking at how abundant and resilient life is here on earth.

We haven't found any, yet, but the odds are pretty good, considering how many stars and planets are out there.

In this solar system, Mars is the most likely candidate, but the conditions are pretty harsh to support life. Other nearby planets are in orbits too close to the sun and are too hot, or, too far away from the sun, and are too cold.

Long range telescopes and instruments have observed some very good candidates for planets that CAN support life, but it will be many years, perhaps hundreds, before we can send probes to, actually, verify the existence of life on any planet but Earth.

Technically, no, but you can't disprove that they DO exist, either, as we haven't visited any other world(s) to prove they DON'T exist. So basically, it's just a big Maybe. People who refuse to believe in any possibility of life outside our solar system are immensely arrogant in that belief, in my opinion.

In my opinion we would be arrogant to think that we are the only life in the universe. The universe is kind of a big place.

However, the odds of contacting such life are nearly zero.
