I know most of the answers have been an automatic "yes."
I tend to disagree. It doesn't take long for water from the toilet to reach the sewer systems. The spider may not drown in the few minutes it would take for it to reach a space where there is air. Sewers are not places that are FULL of water. They are spaces where water is allowed to flow "downstream" to sewage treatment plants. If the spider did not quickly drown, it may be able to make its way out of the water.
Remember that sewers are notorious and ideal homes for insects like cockroaches, silverfish, and mammals like rats, racoons and opossoms. Just because the environment is gross to humans, it may not be all that unpleasant for other creatures.
Also, consider this: It is almost impossible to drown an ant. They can survive underwater for several hours. Can spiders be that different?

it really depends on what kind of spider it is. some spiders are meant to live in the water, so it would not die...immediately. Eventually all toilet water mixes together, and if the spider cannot stand this grossness, it would die. Eventually, all spiders die when flushed down toilets. its the sad truth.

You'd be surprised to know that they close up their legs and spin rite with it. So, if you have a septic tank it will survive at least for a while, and die from lack of food source. Now, if you're on the sewer system, it could survive in the sewer. The water only spins in the toilet, from there it runs slowly only because the pipes are angled towards the sewer line or septic system. Gross lesson for the day. :-/

I never saw a spider crawl up the pot take and return after being flushed.
On the other hand if your not thrall while flushing them down a sink they may return.

Odds are good that it will. It follows the path of the septic system and the greatest likelihood is that it will drown on its way to the main Septic System.
