Fresh hot yeast bread.
The aroma fills the entire house
and on cold frosty Saturday mornings,
it fills your taste buds with the thoughts
of fresh homemade butter
and warm blueberry preserves.
I can still see my grandmother
in our kitchen, leaning into the oven,
to pull out huge pans of these delicious rolls.
If you were the first one to the table,
you got the surprise roll
which was always a sweet delicacy.
