I'm looking for a school that isn't a commuter school. I want a school with a good dorm life and campus life.

thanks

Then you really want one of the CSUs which is NOT located in a major metropolitan area, because all of those tend to be commuter schools (including most of those listed by the previous answerer), since they can easily draw enough students from the local area. I would suggest Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, CSU Chico, and Humboldt State; I've heard good things from graduates of all three. CSU Stanislaus doesn't have the reputation of those three, but it is also not a commuter school.

I'm a proud Golden Eagle from Cal State L A! CSULA is a commuter school so you won't find those aspects there. Being away from a metro area will help getting what you want.
For a good campus life definitely consider Humboldt State or Cal Poly SLO.
I've been to SLO just to visit and it's such a nice college/university town. If I wasn't older and already accustom to L A life I would have gone to Cal Poly SLO.
I trying to convince my little sister, who's a senior this year, to apply to HSU for 2 reasons; because of what you're looking for, I think those qualities in a campus will help her grow. And HSU offers a program in what she is interested. We received a DVD from HSU and it got her to consider Humboldt.
Another campus you might want to consider is CSU Monterey Bay. My little brother is currently a junior there and has enjoyed his time there. I've been there to visit him and it's so relaxed.
San Jose State might deliver too on those qualities but it's situated in a metro area, however the metro area is much smaller that LA or S D.
