What has been happeneing in the last fifty years? the last 100? Have we expanded technologically beyond what we are capable of individually understanding and controlling??. Do we have too many choices in this life? Have we lost the way---our primal selves are creating the mood disorders as a way to combat the unnatural techno world we have created and perpetuate??
Think of this...I do know Socio-economically we have technology that the average family cannot purchase without encuring debt..... here in the US most of us can't afford the new gadgets being offered to us. Do we really need all this stuff? Time to simplify and then I feel we will be more free. Back to the basics folks. One computer one cell phone one camera. hmmm one flat screen...hmmm see it's hard.
All my pts have mood disorders. all my neighbors too. All I have to do really is engage them in a conversation ..and It comes to the surface. ah well. thanks for your observations. :)

Yes Lori, I think the answer lies in your question, get rid of junk. Good sign that you are looking at the positive sides of things around you.
A good question, with an answer in it, I think we are living in a world of virtual realty.[to sum up the whole story].

Good question. I think these disorders have always existed - but only in the past few decades have they been isolated, identified, and now given a DSM Code for insurance purposes.
Secondly, I believe when you're raised by someone with a personality disorder or other mental health syndrom, chances are increased dramatically, that the offspring will suffer the same disorder (I'm not talking about organic brain diseases of course). So, if woman A with depression has three daughters...
It has nothing to do with having choices in technology other than to use it as an excuse - a distraction from the real issue -(aka denial) and I am also wondering what kind of "pts" you have.

hahaha.. everyone you talk to shows signs of mood disorders once you engage them in conversation, huh? Hmmm... maybe it's not them..!
My theory is simple: Mental illness such as bipolar, for example, is largely genetic...we have more mental illness because we breed like rabbits and once a defective gene is allowed to multiply it will quickly infiltrate the world. (No offense to anyone with mental issues btw.. just an observation.) IVF has also ensured the survival of 'bad' genes.. there is a reason some people can't have kids. Nature has said they shouldn't. With longer life spans, more people inhabit the earth than ever before and so problems seem more prolific.
Then again, there are stress related moods - not so much technology originated stress, but workload based. In this age of $$ and taxes, we must work until total exhaustion. A stressed and tired mind is easily agitated...especially by people with nothing better to do than whinge about things that can't be changed.

I agree. After years of cleaning foreclosed houses it all adds up. Couldn't pay their bills but left lots of empty boxes to show where the money went. Shoe boxes, computer boxes, electronic gadget boxes...and of course the omnipresent cable, phone, and utilities bills.
Capitalism has run amok.

I agree. I live with all the stress around me but I don't know how to stop it. In the "simpler" times, you had to do your chores, and "extras" were fun times. Now, simple chores are fun times to get away from the "extras"

That's a very good observation. Everyone does not like to be taxed on eveything. If you had only two taxes that you could continue to charge people what would they be?
