My Brother HL-1435 has been working flawlessly for 5 years with the original toner cartridge, and I print a lot. So, go for it!!!
This printer has 16MB of RAM built-in, so it doesn't matter how much RAM your PC has, when it comes to printing.

The Brother dcp 7020 toner cartridge is around $60. and that's not bad, you should get 2500 pages per cartridge, not sure what drum you want to replace ? not a bad 3 in 1 machine, I would max the ram on your computer to at least a gig.
