As Sam Said, Black and Red wires are
"phase` or "hot` wires and go the the brass
screws on your new receptacle.
The bare wire goes to the green 'ground` screw.
If you've got a white, (silver), screw, you've got the wrong receptacle for the wiring you've got.

Red and black to the prongs that are alike or opposed. Bare to the odd prong or centered.

black and red wires are hot ---be careful. the bare is a ground. shouldn't you have a neutral in the system...unless...
