Hi, I'm writing a book and was wondering how many poeple out there know what the word 'taffled' is/means, as I don't want to use it and find out no-one knows what it means!

How many poeple have heard this word and where is the furthest area from Yorkshire that you can tell me that you know of it?

Greatfully recieved research. Thanks

Apparently it means tangled, but I had never heard of this word before, and I'm pretty well-read. I live in the U.S., and it is not used here.

Taffled (Tangled as in "it's all taffled up"). It is a Yorkshire colloquialism. I hadn't heard the expression before you asked, so I can't tell you any more. However, the sites below (especially the second) might be helpful to you.

**I live in Australia and, although my father was from Leeds in Yorkshire, I have never heard him say 'Taffled".

Taffled definitely means tangled, not very far from Yorkshire, in Lincolnshire.
