Absolutely not! I don't smoke and I am only a social drinker. Most of my friends are social drinkers too. Moreover my bf doesn't drink and smoke at all and made me promise I won't drink when he's around either. So... I'd say - if your sis doesn't drink or smoke, that is great. She just needs to be strong and get friends that can respect her decision (which is really not that hard). University is about getting quality education, not about getting drunk.

Not everyone drinks and smokes. I guess how hard a time she has depends upon whether having friends accept her for who she is is more important than having friends no matter what the costs. Being friends with people who accept you is more important and more rewarding in life. Not everyone has to be "the lowest common denominator", if you know what I mean. Don't you think it is better to be a person people respect?

Depends if SHE makes it a factor. She could choose to stick to her guns and find people who also don't drink (there are many, though if you're always partying you never really SEE them because they're tucked away somewhere safe at night), or she could fall into a drinkin & smokin peer group and fold like a dollar bill. It's up to her in the end.

Common, guy, you don't have to worry about it. your sister does not have to change to be accepted, she's got to be herself always. This idea of start doing things people do just to be accepted is silly. That's the reason why there are so many youngster addict to drug and alcoholic beverage. Think about it instead of putting this silly and ridiculous thought on your sister's mind.

No, not at all. If she joins clubs and gets involved in school activities she will meet many people and make new friends. It is not necessary nor desireable to drink. Please do not encourage her to do so. It could end in tragedy.
