In the beginning that the Aztecs thought that the Spanish were two-headed gods,( they were on horseback), so they welcomed the Spanish. The Spanish had the upper hand and took advantage, stabbing them in the backs. Montezuma, (the Aztec ruler then) didn't do much good either. Not a great ruler in my opinion, but I suppose he did the best he could. (He was eventually captured as a prisoner.)

European diseases also helped to wipe out the Aztecs. Getting the other Natives who feared and/or hated the Aztecs to fight with them, (the conquistadors), helped too.

Diseases, like small pox and influenza, which the Aztecs hadn't been exposed to until the Spaniards arrived. They could have brought a bunch of STDs, too. You never know!

The conquistadors had diseases that they (the conquistadores) wear immune to, but the aztecs weren't, so they died.
