Is it British?
is it Nerhu?
is it Gandhi?
I personally like Nerhu and Indira Gandhi and Rajid Gandhi.
Gandhi gyi is only good for getting rid of slavery by British.
Before British , there are many states in India ruled by maharajas. Who united them? I really do not know the history.
I think British India and independent India leaders will be the father of the nation.
It is sad that they have Bengladesh and Pakistan come out of the continent.

Late Shri Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi. He is also remembered as Mahatma Gandhi or Baapu.May his soul rest in peace.
