Actually, yes. When I was 16 we drove to California for vacation. We stopped at a reststop to sleep. It was in the Arizonia desert. It was beautiful.

Yes. With the warm smell of colitas rising up through the air. And then, up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light. My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim, so I decided I had to stop for the night. It rocked.

My opinion is that it relatively is speaking some haunted place "lodge California" the place he hears voices speaking out at evening and different weird and wonderful happenings. To my interpretation it relatively is a few place the place some form of devil worshiping is happening "How they dance interior the courtyard, candy summer season sweat. some dance to bear in mind, some dance to forget approximately" and "They amassed for the banquet" "have been all prisoners right here, of our very own device" people who desire to interrupt from the devil won't be able to "They stab it with their steely knives, yet they only cant kill the beast". interior the top the guy realizes he has come to a place from the place he purely won't be able to get away "you are able to checkout every time you like yet you are able to in no way bypass away!" it relatively is taken as literal in meaning or as a metaphor to particular inner struggles or disturbances of the author of the lyrics, including a conflict with drug dependancy. Thats my opinion, anyhow. =]
