Derek Anderson might be a Pro Bowler if he keeps playing like this and the Browns are actually looking like a pretty good team. I know this situation kinda resembles the Palmer/Kitna situation, but let's remind ourselves that Anderson is only a year older than Brady and that Brady Quinn is definitely no Carson Palmer. So if the Browns are confident that Anderson is their QB of the future, why would they keep such an expensive first round draft pick backup? If Anderson finishes this year the way he's playing right now, I can see the Browns looking to trade Quinn, although they certainly won't get a first round draft pick for him.

They would be smart to trade him while he still has a high value, he could probably fetch a late first or second round pick with a team like the Bears, Dolphins or Falcons

Lets wait a minute and see what happens with the rest of the season. We are only going into week 7. We have a while before we can say Anderson is going to the Pro Bowl. Why would you trade Quinn? Do you think Ken Dorsey is a good backup? If Quinn isn't going to get you anyone then use the money you spent and keep him as a number 2 guy. Its almost guaranteed that Anderson will go down at some point and time this season. If only for a quarter or few plays. Lets see what Cleveland does at Pittsburgh and Baltimore before we put Anderson on a pedestal. That said it is nice to be excited about Browns football again!

If Derek Anderson can mature even more as the season progresses, they may as well trade him. Brady Quinn is too good of a quarterback to ride the bench and become another Aaron Rodgers, and Anderson is playing too well right now to be benched in favor of Quinn. If Anderson improves on his vision and decision making, and keeps playing well in big games like he has been, it would make sense for the Browns financially to trade him. There surely would be some team out there willing to give up a first round pick for a franchise QB ready to start rather than groom a rookie draft pick.

Right now, Derek Anderson, despite his few faults, is still the third best QB in the AFC statistically. 7 of the Browns final 10 games are against currently losing teams and Anderson should be throwing alot playing catch up with a Browns defense offering up 30 points a game, spells a recipe for success and most likely a Pro Bowl appearance for Derek Anderson.

That means, next season, Anderson will deservedly want more cash, and they'll have to pull a Chargers and decide between two QB's. The difference here is that the age gap between Anderson and Quinn isn't as large as Brees and Rivers, and it'd make more sense for the Browns to go with Anderson and get more in a trade for Quinn.

No it would be real bad to trade Quinn because they'd still take a huge cap hit so it wouldn't be worth trading the guy besides. I've made this point before but a good backup QB is invaluable in todays NFL. In a league where in 90% of the teams the starting QB hits the IR the season is over having a backup like Quinn is a great luxury.

Also they traded a first round pick and a second to Dallas for Quinn so the GM would likely get fired for that.

Plus you could sit him for more than a year or two ala Tony Romo and if he proves himself in practice they could trade Anderson at a premium.

i think the Browns will end up starting Quinn. Anderson does make some bad decisions once in a while, and i don't see him doing well against strong defenses. i like the way Quinn is being patient with the team. he is not complaining about no playing time, he is supporting the team's decision to start anderson, learning the playbook, understanding the concept of the NFL, and is being a team player. i'm sure coach Crennel see's that right now, and see's excellent leadership qualities coming from Quinn. Anderson at some point will slow down, that's my prediction.

I think they could get a first round pick for him actually. He has a year of sitting AND they have a mentor there specifically for him. I would see them trading him for another QB or something though, not a draft pick. Really though if Anderson keeps this up I think they do trade Quinn, although will it be after this year. I mean they may wait until after next year to make sure it isn't a fluke thing.

They drafted Brady Quinn to build the Browns franchise of the future around him. Derek Anderson, while he is playing great, makes alot of dumb choices and doesnt quite see the field as well as most QBs. The Browns believe Brady Quinn can become an elite level QB and lead them to a Super Bowl, so theres no way they ditch the QB of their future.

D.A. is an elite quarterback boys. That brady quinn will eventually be traded some point next year. Quinn is very inaccurate and nervous in bigger games in college. He doesn't move well either. People just think any QB coming out of Dame is gonna be the next Montana.
On the other hand, D.A. looks cool in the pocket and still improving every week. Accuracy is something that either you have it or you don't, DA has it. He's gonna be a better quicker version of roethlisburger. Keep DA.

I think you have to look at the business end of it. The paid a lot to get Quinn signed for a while and are planning to build their future around him. Yes, Anderson is playing good right now, but (and I don't know what his contract situation is) he could be good "trade-bait" at the end of the season to get another player to compliment Quinn.

How do you know Quinn is no Carson Palmer? How many 'can't miss' college QB's flop, and how many ones we never heard of become great in the NFL? We don't have any idea how good Quinn will be yet. He could be Ryan Leaf, or he could be Tom Brady. I wouldn't trade him. I would have traded Aaron Rodgers for a real good RB though because that could have meant a Super Bowl for the Packers.

No...Brady Quinn is the future...Derek Anderson is not...It may just delay Quinn a couple years if Anderson stays consistent...
