I was in theatre for a long time and I really love acting but I think that directing would be really cool. Especially if you're familiar with acting. You can visualize a scene and have other people act it out. Directors are painters and actors are paint.

Having done both, in my opinion the best directors have usually acted. My experience has been on stage though. Go to film school to learn film directing. Theatre directing is great fun and hard work. You get to act out all the parts, and are responsible for the entire appearance of the whole presentation. Your people skills must be top notch, you must be a strong leader. Actors are more team players. What an actor does on the set is at the discretion of the director, even if that includes letting the actor do exactly what he pleases with the role, which is rare and requires great talent on the part of the actor. Read lots of scripts and pretend to direct them. Get involved in local theatre and learn the basics of the trade. Film acting is different from stage acting in many respects, but great talent shines in any medium. Also, get a firm command of the English language. ....better and more fun... is the correct way to phrase your question. Good luck

more fun to act in film film directors work their butts off (however, it must be noted that film acting is really not so much fun as it is waiting. you are always hurried to get ready and then have to wait , and you act in short little scene and do them over and over and over. Actually neither job is fun, but a job. The acting part is fun in the way acting is always fun because it is playing, but there is only the crew for audience, and you usually have no response to play off of.
on stage it is a toss up, depends on the play and what you are doing at the moment both are fun

Actor, you can give one role passion and focus on it while having fun. I think being a director would be rather stressful. But if its your thing, you could have fun w/ it too.

Be the director and cast yourself in at various parts. Start with some home movies and reality films or documenatarys. Then sell them at low prices and earn enough to make better movies.

"Funner?" Really, now, "Funner?"
I would think that the Producer of a hit movie would have a "funner" job.

I've done both and ultimately found directing to be much more satisfying.
